The Cream of Cornwall: A Tribute to Rodda's Clotted Cream
In the heart of Cornwall, where rolling green hills meet the rugged coastline, there lies a dairy that has been producing one of the county's most beloved treasures for generations – Rodda's Clotted Cream. This artisanal creamery has become synonymous with the essence of Cornwall itself, and in this blog, we pay homage to the creamery that has perfected the art of clotted cream.
A Creamery Steeped in Tradition
Rodda's is no ordinary creamery; it's a custodian of Cornish heritage. Founded in 1890 by Eliza Jane Rodda, this family-owned business has maintained its unwavering commitment to producing clotted cream using traditional methods that have been passed down through the generations. Nestled in the small village of Scorrier, Rodda's has remained faithful to its roots while becoming a symbol of Cornwall's finest produce.
The Secret to Clotted Cream Excellence
Clotted cream is a delicacy renowned for its rich, silky texture and indulgent flavour. At Rodda's, this culinary masterpiece is crafted using only the finest ingredients – high-quality milk sourced from local Cornish farms. The milk is slowly and gently heated in traditional steam-heated pans, allowing the cream to rise to the surface and form its iconic golden crust. This is a delicate process that requires a masterful touch, and Rodda's artisans have honed their skills over decades to create the perfect cream every time.
Cornish Purity in Every Spoonful
Cornwall's unique climate and lush pastures contribute to the exceptional quality of Rodda's clotted cream. The cows graze on the county's verdant fields, producing milk that's naturally high in butterfat content, a key factor in achieving the luxurious thickness and velvety taste of clotted cream. When you spoon a dollop of Rodda's onto your scone or dessert, you're savouring the pure essence of Cornwall.
A Culinary Icon
Rodda's clotted cream has become an icon of Cornish cuisine, an essential component of the region's world-famous cream teas. Whether generously slathered on freshly baked scones or paired with fruity jams, this creamery's clotted cream elevates any culinary experience. It's versatility extends beyond tea time, gracing desserts, cakes, and even savoury dishes with its irresistible creaminess.
Sustainability and Responsibility
In addition to their commitment to tradition, Rodda's is dedicated to responsible farming and sustainability. The creamery works closely with local farmers who share their values, ensuring that the land and the cows are treated with care and respect. This commitment to ethical practices is reflected in the quality of their dairy products.

As good as always very good And tasty. Delivered on time and the scones were still fresh a few days later
I sent this to my daughter who was absolutely delighted with it. She has told me that the scones were delicious and tasted really freshly baked and the cherry jam was perfect for someone who is allergic to strawberries. I won’t hesitate to order from you again in the future.
A wonderful Birthday surprise for a very special friend. Enjoyed very treat in the box. So if you are short on time, not sure what to buy, they have everything they want/needs.
Treat that person/persons to a Cornish Hammer. Excellent value, treat, surprise.
👍👏🏻👍👏🏻👍👏🏻👍👏🏻👍👏🏻
She was really impressed with the Black Forest Cream Tea. Loved the fact that you got coffee as well as tea to drink. The clotted cream was so delicious and thick she had to cut with a knife. She also commented how lovely the photo was on the box.
Last Monday I sent 8 people cream teas … two of them to have 2 cream tea boxes!
Unfortunately only one of the people got their message!!
One friend in her late 80s called today to say her son had chased you up to find out who had sent their Mum this treat!
Rebecca has been in touch with me about one of our friends receiving 2 boxes … and that seemed fine and she’d received the missing one > > except yesterday I received an email saying they were putting a label on another box for her?!?
SO - out of the 8 people I know of only one who had my message included in their box!
I haven’t been in touch with Catherine Garner who is 90 and housebound and I hope she did in fact receive her box even although she may not have known who sent it!
I’m hoping to be in touch with Chris RENNIE who is 88 today to see if she got hers.
I LOVE giving your Cornish cream teas boxes but am dismayed to find out only one friend received my greeting.
Please could you call me on [****] to get this sorted out for the next time I send your boxes… thank you!
I have thought of a birthday next Monday when I will send some pasties in it too … I desperately need to be assured that this will arrive + my greeting.
With hope of your answer and help … Margaret Black
