A Journey Through Time
Founded in 1964, Buttermilk is a family-run business that takes great pride in its Cornish heritage. Their journey began with the creation of the traditional Cornish clotted cream fudge, a recipe that remains at the heart of their business.
Nestled in the picturesque landscape of Cornwall, Buttermilk carries forward the tradition of producing the most exquisite Cornish fudge. Their commitment to quality and authenticity is evident in every batch they create.
The Craft of Cornish Fudge
The art of making Cornish fudge is a harmonious blend of locally-sourced ingredients and time-tested techniques. Here's an insight into the process of crafting this irresistible treat:
Locally-Sourced Ingredients: Buttermilk emphasises the use of fresh and natural ingredients, many of which are sourced locally. Key components include Cornish butter, clotted cream, and unrefined sugar – the core elements of genuine Cornish fudge.
Traditional Methods: At Buttermilk, the making of fudge remains true to traditional techniques. Their skilled artisans use large copper pans to carefully cook the mixture. This method ensures a luscious, creamy texture and maintains the authenticity of Cornish fudge.
A Spectrum of Flavours: While clotted cream fudge remains the flagship product, Buttermilk offers a range of flavours to cater to diverse tastes. From classic favourites like vanilla and chocolate to modern delights like sea salt and caramel, there's a Buttermilk fudge for everyone.
Handcrafted Quality: Each batch of fudge is lovingly handcrafted, a process that guarantees the highest quality and exceptional taste. The fudge is allowed to cool naturally, reaching the perfect consistency before being cut into tempting bite-sized pieces.
Sustainability Matters: Buttermilk also takes steps to minimise its environmental impact. They use eco-friendly packaging, demonstrating a commitment to preserving the environment.
