Cornwall's Fudge Treasure: The Buttermilk Fudge Story
Fudge, a sweet confection beloved around the world, finds a special place in the hearts of those who visit Cornwall, England. This delightful treat captures the essence of Cornish culture and has a rich, flavourful history. One of the standout producers of Cornish fudge is Buttermilk, a company that has perfected the art of fudge-making over the years.
A Journey Through Time
Founded in 1964, Buttermilk is a family-run business that takes great pride in its Cornish heritage. Their journey began with the creation of the traditional Cornish clotted cream fudge, a recipe that remains at the heart of their business.
Nestled in the picturesque landscape of Cornwall, Buttermilk carries forward the tradition of producing the most exquisite Cornish fudge. Their commitment to quality and authenticity is evident in every batch they create.
The Craft of Cornish Fudge
The art of making Cornish fudge is a harmonious blend of locally-sourced ingredients and time-tested techniques. Here's an insight into the process of crafting this irresistible treat:
Locally-Sourced Ingredients: Buttermilk emphasises the use of fresh and natural ingredients, many of which are sourced locally. Key components include Cornish butter, clotted cream, and unrefined sugar β the core elements of genuine Cornish fudge.
Traditional Methods: At Buttermilk, the making of fudge remains true to traditional techniques. Their skilled artisans use large copper pans to carefully cook the mixture. This method ensures a luscious, creamy texture and maintains the authenticity of Cornish fudge.
A Spectrum of Flavours: While clotted cream fudge remains the flagship product, Buttermilk offers a range of flavours to cater to diverse tastes. From classic favourites like vanilla and chocolate to modern delights like sea salt and caramel, there's a Buttermilk fudge for everyone.
Handcrafted Quality: Each batch of fudge is lovingly handcrafted, a process that guarantees the highest quality and exceptional taste. The fudge is allowed to cool naturally, reaching the perfect consistency before being cut into tempting bite-sized pieces.
Sustainability Matters: Buttermilk also takes steps to minimise its environmental impact. They use eco-friendly packaging, demonstrating a commitment to preserving the environment.

As good as always very good And tasty. Delivered on time and the scones were still fresh a few days later
I sent this to my daughter who was absolutely delighted with it. She has told me that the scones were delicious and tasted really freshly baked and the cherry jam was perfect for someone who is allergic to strawberries. I wonβt hesitate to order from you again in the future.
A wonderful Birthday surprise for a very special friend. Enjoyed very treat in the box. So if you are short on time, not sure what to buy, they have everything they want/needs.
Treat that person/persons to a Cornish Hammer. Excellent value, treat, surprise.

She was really impressed with the Black Forest Cream Tea. Loved the fact that you got coffee as well as tea to drink. The clotted cream was so delicious and thick she had to cut with a knife. She also commented how lovely the photo was on the box.
Last Monday I sent 8 people cream teas β¦ two of them to have 2 cream tea boxes!
Unfortunately only one of the people got their message!!
One friend in her late 80s called today to say her son had chased you up to find out who had sent their Mum this treat!
Rebecca has been in touch with me about one of our friends receiving 2 boxes β¦ and that seemed fine and sheβd received the missing one > > except yesterday I received an email saying they were putting a label on another box for her?!?
SO - out of the 8 people I know of only one who had my message included in their box!
I havenβt been in touch with Catherine Garner who is 90 and housebound and I hope she did in fact receive her box even although she may not have known who sent it!
Iβm hoping to be in touch with Chris RENNIE who is 88 today to see if she got hers.
I LOVE giving your Cornish cream teas boxes but am dismayed to find out only one friend received my greeting.
Please could you call me on [****] to get this sorted out for the next time I send your boxes⦠thank you!
I have thought of a birthday next Monday when I will send some pasties in it too β¦ I desperately need to be assured that this will arrive + my greeting.
With hope of your answer and help β¦ Margaret Black
